The Oak Bar

The Oak Bar
The Oak Bar is a unique private room, an elegant and comfortable area that is an ideal to unwind and relax for pre- and after-dinner drinks. Located within the Palace building on the Piano Nobile floor, the 28-seat bar embodies a very "Club Style" ambience with its antique oak paneling, a wood burning fireplace, brown leather wingback chairs, and a terrace for up to six people, overlooking the magnificent garden. The original artwork complements the club feel of the bar.

The Oak Bar takes its name from its ornately carved oak paneling.  The panels are made of European oak, and were specially carved in the 17th century to decorate a castle in Normandy, France.   When the last owner of the castle died, his widow sold some valuables to Mr. Luis Duhau, who bought the panels and brought them to his Palace in Argentina.

The oak panels feature an extensive variety of carved designs, mixed styles and ages: colorful mouldings, lilies, Elizabethan-period medallions, and recurrent images of medieval legends, such as Saint George and the Dragon, and images of animals playing musical instruments. The over-ornamented style with flamboyant elegance, shapes and curves was typical of custom-made furnishings of wealthy families of that era.

Duhau Restaurant & Vinoteca

Guests enter through the Vinoteca, with its formidable selection: 500

different labels, 7,000 bottles of Argentinean wine, featuring the best Argentinean Malbecs, offering 100 different references.

A high “Patagonic giallo” marble table encourages guests to drink a glass of wine or a cocktail prepared by the sommelier.  An added feature is a private terrace for up to eight people.
The Vinoteca also features a unique Cheese Room offering the best artisanal Argentine cheeses selected by our Maître Fromager.  These exquisite cheeses are served with assorted dried fruits, home-made breads and marmalades, air-dried ham (14 months), and Iberian cured ham “Pata Negra”.
